“Invite 'all' to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and kind advice, and only debate with them in the best manner”
Quran 16:125

What is dawah?

Da’wah is an Arabic word which has the literal meaning of “making an invitation.”  This term is often used to describe how Muslims teach others about the beliefs and practices of their Islamic faith.

About us

We are a passionate group that have been inspired by the beautiful religion that is Islam. We are blessed to have been granted this gift of Islam and we wish to share this gift with others. Islam teaches us to Love all of mankind and to share its teachings through education and dialogue and live our life in the service of others. These beliefs form the basis of our motto, Love, Learn, Live.

Learn Islam

Gods existence has been debated over many centuries and the answer is quite simply yes god exists. There are a number of classical pieces of evidence that prove gods existence.

1. The Creation Argument (Cosmological argument)

When we observe the world around us we come to a conclusion that everything that exists must do so because:

a) It has always existed

b) It was created

If we trace back the roots of origin for all things that exist we come to the realisation that everything was created by some means. For example humans through their endeavours, intellect and skill created and built every item that we utilise on daily basis such as homes, transport and technology.  Every one of these items has a creator. In a similar manner the land, sea and skies and all the creatures that live it must have an ultimate starting point and if we trace this back we may conclude that it stems from the beginning of the universe. Scientifically it has been proven that the universe itself has a finite existence. i.e. At some point it did not exist and it had a beginning. From observing the laws of existence we know that nothing can create itself. therefore the beginning of the universe MUST have been triggered by an external force i.e. the ultimate creator. The creator would have to have always existed infinitely and not contained within the universe.

The creator says in the Quran, “Were they created out of nothing? Were they the creators? Did they create the heavens and the earth?”  No, they do not have faith.  Quran 52:35-36

2. The grand design of the Universe (Teleological Argument)

The second piece of argument is the Complexity and Fine Tuning of the universe. The creation of the universe is so perfectly aligned that it couldn’t have happened by chance. An example of this is life on earth. The perfect alignment of the earth to support life. If it happened to be few miles closer or further to the sun it couldn’t support life. In a recent study  conducted by Astrophysicist Erik Zackrisson from Uppsala University in Sweden it has been suggested that that there are around 700 quintillion planets in the universe, but only one like Earth. Earth has the right combination of chemicals, temperature, water, days and nights to support planetary life as we know it.

According to physicist Robin Collins, if the initial explosion of the Big Bang had differed in strength as little as one part in 10 to the power of 60, the universe would have either quickly collapsed back on itself or expanded too rapidly for stars to form. In either case, life would be impossible. The universe is designed for life, not a random occurrence.

The laws of nature are configured in astonishingly precise measurements in order for the universe to exist and for life to thrive. The precise fine-tuning of the universe actually scientifically validates the existence of an intelligent designer.

The Quran constantly asks humans to think deeply and reason about the design of the universe to find purpose in life. it says:

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people, and what Allah has sent down from the heavens of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature, and [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and the earth are signs for a people who use reason.” Quran 2:164

3. Hardwired to believe.

Human beings sense the existence of God through intuition and experiences that appeal to the heart. Intuitions of the heart start with pure instinct. Humans can sense that a power higher than them exists. This natural inclination to believe in a higher power is a result of the covenant that was taken from all souls that were created. The creator gathered all the souls together and  made a covenant that they would recognize their creator. This covenant is mentioned in the Quran

“And ˹remember˺ when your Lord brought forth from the loins of the children of Adam their descendants and had them testify regarding themselves. ˹Allah asked,˺ “Am I not your Lord?” They replied, “Yes, You are! We testify.” ˹He cautioned,˺ “Now you have no right to say on Judgment Day, ‘We were not aware of this.’” Quran 7:172

Having concluded that the creator exists, it would be prudent to understand the characteristics of that creator.

The Creator would have always had to exist and not be itself created.

The Creator has to be unique and not have something that could have an equivalent or partner.

The Creator has to be independent and self sufficient.

The Creator should be eternal and should be free of space and time.

The Creator should be independent and free of obligations to anyone or anything.

Allah wants his creation, to acknowledge Him as the one true God, worship Him alone without associating partners, and live a righteous life following His guidance as outlined in the Quran; essentially, to submit to His will and demonstrate gratitude for the blessings He has bestowed upon them some of the Key points about Allah’s desires for his creation are:

Monotheism:

The most fundamental aspect is to believe in Allah as the sole deity and avoid worshipping anything else alongside Him.

Following Islamic principles:

This includes adhering to the moral code outlined in the Quran, practicing acts of worship like prayer and charity, and striving to live ethically.

Developing a personal connection with Allah:

Muslims are encouraged to cultivate a deep understanding and relationship with God through reflection, remembrance, and seeking His pleasure.

Using one’s abilities for good:

Allah wants humans to utilize their intellect and capabilities to benefit themselves and society, promoting justice and kindness.

The Final Revelation

The Qur’an is the final testament or scripture revealed by Almighty Allah (God), confirming what little truth remains in parts of previous scriptures and refuting and correcting fabrications and additions which have crept into current day versions of such scriptures.

“O you who have been given the Scripture! Believe in what We have revealed confirming what is (already) with you…” Qur’an 4:47

Preservation

The Qur’an is the only religious sacred text that has been in circulation for a lengthy period, and yet remains as pure as the day it was revealed. Nothing has been added, removed or modified from it, since its revelation over 1400 years ago.

“We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will certainly guard it (from corruption).”Qur’an 15:09Not only has the Qur’an been preserved in written form, but also in the hearts of men, children and women. Today, millions of people have memorised the Qur’an from cover to cover.

Scientific Miracles

The Qur’an does not contradict modern science but rather, supports it. One of the most remarkable aspects about the Qur’an is that it contains many verses which accurately describe natural phenomenon in various fields such as embryology, meteorology, astronomy, geology and oceanography. Scientists have found its descriptions incredibly accurate for a book dating back to the 7th century.

“We shall show them Our Signs in the Universe and within their own selves, until it becomes clear to them that this is the Truth.” Qur’an 41:53

In fact, many of the scientific miracles mentioned in the Qur’an have been discovered only recently, through the modern advancement of technological equipment. Consider the following:

The Qur’an gives a detailed description of the development of the human embryo. These details were unknown to the scientific community until recent times.

The Qur’an states that the astronomical objects (stars, planets, moons etc…) were all formed from clouds of dust. Previously unknown, this fact has now become an undisputed principle of modern cosmology.

Modern science has discovered the existence of barriers that allow two seas to meet yet maintain their own temperature, density and salinity.

These signs of God were clearly stated in the Qur’an more than 1400 years ago.

Uniqueness

Ever since its revelation, no person has been able to produce a single chapter like that of the Qur’an in its beauty, eloquence, splendour, wisdom, prophecies, and other perfect attributes.

“And if you are in doubt as to that which We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a chapter like it and call on your witnesses besides Allah if you are truthful.” Qur’an 2:23

The people that rejected Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) failed this challenge, even though they were extremely eloquent in the language of the Qur’an. This challenge remains unanswered to this very day.

No Contradictions

When people write, they are bound to make mistakes such as spelling and grammar, contradictory statements, incorrect facts, omission of information, and other various errors.

“Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely, have found in it (the Qur’an) many contradictions.” Qur’an 4:82

The Qur’an has no contradictions whatsoever – be it in scientific explanations of the water cycle, embryology, geology and cosmology; historical facts and events; or prophecies.

Couldn’t Muhammad have authored it?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known in history to be unlettered; he could not read nor write. He was not educated in any field that could account for neither the scientific and historical accuracy, nor the literary beauty of this magnificent Book. The precision of historical recounts of previous peoples and civilisations mentioned in the Qur’an is also too great to be authored by any man.

“And this Qur’an is not such as could ever be produced by other than Allah.” Qur’an 10:37

Purpose of Revelation

To Believe in One True God

“And your god is One God. There is no god but He, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.” Qur’an 2:163

The most important topic mentioned throughout the Qur’an is the belief in the One, True God. God informs us that He has no partner, no son, no equal, and that none has the right to be worshipped except Him alone. Nothing is comparable to God and none of His creation resembles Him. The Qur’an also rejects the notion of attributing human qualities and limitations to God.

To Reject All False Gods

And worship Allah and associate none with Him.” Qur’an 4:36 Since Allah alone is the only One worthy of worship, false deities and false gods must be rejected. The Qur’an also rejects the notion of attributing divine qualities to anyone or anything other than Allah.

To guide mankind

The Qur’an is “a guidance for mankind… and the distinction (between right and wrong).” Qur’an 2:185 It provides direction to help mankind judge between right and wrong, without which, man would surely be in loss.

The Quran is considered a guidance for mankind because it contains information about every aspect of life. It teaches how to live in peace with others, and how to reform oneself.

Teaches to live in peace: The Quran teaches how to live in harmony with others and avoid the traps of an unrestrained lifestyle.

Teaches how to reform: The Quran offers opportunities to reform oneself and one’s life.

Teaches how to maintain family ties: The Quran teaches the importance of maintaining family ties.

Teaches unity of God: The Quran teaches unity of God, love and obedience to Him.

Teaches kindness: The Quran teaches to treat kindly one’s brothers and fellow beings.

Teaches mercy: The Quran teaches to be kind and merciful to humanity.

In summary, the Qur’an teaches mankind how to worship the One True God, hence fulfilling their true purpose in life, and attaining success in both this world and the next.

“Verily, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad) the Book for mankind in truth. So whosoever accepts the guidance, it is only for his own self; and whosoever goes astray, he goes astray only for his own loss.” Qur’an 39:41

Don’t you owe it to yourself to at least read this Noble Book?

Allah sent messengers to deliver messages and teachings from Allah to people on Earth. These messengers were Allah’s ambassadors on earth. The purpose of these messengers was to deliver the message of Allah and be role models to the people that they were sent to. By the very nature of being an Ambassador the messengers had to be amongst the best of the people of their time. The messengers were protected from sin by Allah. How could a sinful prophet be an ambassador for truth? The message delivered by all the messengers was consistent with what was being stated on all scriptures that there is only one god that is worthy of worship.

“And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], “Worship Allah and avoid taghut (False objects of worship)” Quran 36:36

The Quran mentions 25 prophets by name. Some of those mentioned in the quran are:

Adam: The first human and prophet in Islam, created by Allah and given the responsibility to be the khalifah (steward) on Earth.

Noah (Nuh): Known for building an ark to save his people from a great flood due to their disbelief.

Abraham (Ibrahim): Highly revered in Islam, known for his unwavering faith and obedience to Allah,

Ishmael (Ismail): The son of Ibrahim, who followed in his father’s footsteps

Isaac (Ishaq): The brother of Ismail

Jacob (Yaqub): Had 12 sons who became the leaders of the 12 tribes of Israel

Moses (Musa): Received the Torah from Allah and led the Israelites out of Egypt.

David (Dawood): A wise king who received the Scriptures of Psalms and defeated Goliath

Solomon (Sulaiman): The son of David, was a great king known for his wisdom and ability to communicate with animals in his kingdom and had control of the winds.

Jonah (Yunus): Was swallowed by a large fish

Jesus (Isa):  A prophet in Islam who received the bible believed to be born miraculously to Mary (Maryam) and to have performed miracles, but Muslims do not believe he is the son of God.

Muhammad (Muhammad SAW): The final prophet in Islam who received the Quran as divine revelation.

Peace be Upon all the prophets mentioned above. PBUH is an acronym used when referring to a single prophet and it means Peace be Upon Him

Muhammad ():

The final prophet in Islam who received the Quran as divine revelation. Muhammad ﷺ has such an impact on the world with his teachings that the impact still reverberates across the world today. His accomplishments have led scholars to be compelled to write accolades and include him at the top of lists of the worlds greatest ever people.

“My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels.

Of humble origins, Muhammad founded and promulgated one of the world’s great religions, and became an immensely effective political leader. Today, thirteen centuries after his death, his influence is still powerful and pervasive.

Michael H. Hart: The 100, a Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History

Even before receiving prophethood Mohammed had established himself as trustworthy, truthful man, he was given the title of Al Amin (The trustworthy). When the people of Mecca needed to they would leave their valuables with him in the knowledge that he could be trusted pre Islam life in the Arab lands, the people were engaged in all kinds of vices including consumption of alcohol, adultery wars amongst tribes. With advent of Islam all this changed and the teachings of Muhammad  all this changed.
